Sequence and Duration of Units in SNC1D1: Course of Study and Strategies for Success
UNIT 1: CHEMISTRY (Big Ideas: *Elements and compounds have specific physical and chemical properties that determine their practical uses; *The use of elements and compounds has both positive and negative effects on society and the environment.) Feb 01 – Mar 07 (SNC1D: Ch 5, 6, 7; SNC1P: pp. 88 – 161.) SAFETY QUIZ: Feb 05; TEST 1: Feb 21; TEST 2: Mar 07. There will be a number of quizzes throughout the unit.
UNIT 2: PHYSICS (Big Ideas: *Electricity is a form of energy produced from a variety of non-renewable and renewable sources; *The production and consumption of electrical energy has social, economic, and environmental implications; *Static and current electricity have distinct properties that determine how they are used.) Mar 18 - Apr 30 1D-Ch 11, 12, 13; 1P-pp.238-333 (6 weeks) TEST 1: Apr 2; TEST 2: Apr 30. There will be a number of quizzes throughout the unit.
